News - Foundation Board of Directors

The road to greatness in America has been, and always will be, traveled by those who embrace change and work hard every day to be the best; the organizations we honor today with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award exemplify that spirit,” President Obama said. “This year's recipients have shown how quality, innovation, and an unending quest for excellence help strengthen our nation and brighten the future of all Americans.”
— Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States

What's New

Consistent with its purpose, the Foundation for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, Inc. (Foundation) is committed to supporting and sustaining the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program (BPEP). To this end, the Foundation has approved $9.687M total for Fiscal Years 2014 and 2015. The use of these funds is to be used specifically for the furtherance of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) and the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The Foundation will review the gift annually to determine any appropriate adjustments for a rolling three-year period.

In addition, the Foundation is in the process of hiring a Major Gifts Director to oversee the “Campaign for the Growth and Sustainability of Baldrige” to enable the Foundation endowment to become more self-sustaining, create a culture of philanthropy and further leverage the endowment and create revenue for the Enterprise’s efforts. The new Major Gifts Director will be working with Maryann Brennan who was hired in March of 2013 in the role of Director of Office of Development. Maryann will be working with the Major Gifts Director to transition all fundraising activities to the newly hired Major Gifts Director. Both positions will report directly to the Chair of the Foundation, P. George Benson, President of College of Charleston.

In 2011 and again in 2012, a end-of-the-year appeal was initiated to assist the Foundation to raise funds for the endowment. Overall $200K has been raised from the end of 2011 to the end of 2012. Donations were received from many individuals and several organizations. It is very difficult to recognize all contributors whose contributions were very beneficial to assist the Foundation - we would like to single out several organizations who have contributed and continue to support the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program and the Foundation. The top ten organizations recognized include:

  1. American College of Healthcare Executives - $50K donation in 2011 and 2012
  2. AtlantiCare - $30K donation in 2011
  3. American Hospital Association - $25K in 2011
  4. Poudre Valley Hospital - $25K in 2011
